These buffalo turkey sliders with slaw were made for dinner Monday night. And I definitely suggest not leaving the slaw off of these! It’s an easy serving of veggies, and the perfect compliment to the spicy meat. It can easily be adjust to more or less spicy to your own taste. Let’s get cooking!
Make the slaw first so it can chill while you prepare the rest of the meal. This is a delicious tangy, fresh slaw.
Then start making your sliders!
I start by getting all my ingredients out, items chopped or diced, and organized. It will seriously make things go smoother in the kitchen if you prep before you start actually cooking.
I ate mine with sliced avocado and blue cheese on lettuce. My husband had his on a roll. Serve as you desire! They were tasty both ways.
If these aren’t spicy enough for you, increase your hot sauce or add in 1/2 tsp of red pepper flakes when mixing the meat mixture. Just don’t crowd the pan when frying these so they will cook more evenly.
Buffalo Turkey Sliders with Slaw
1 pound ground turkey
¼ cup of hot sauce of choice (I used Tessemae’s buffalo sauce)
1 celery stalk (finely diced)
1 carrot (finely diced)
1 bunch of green onions (thinly sliced)
1 tbsp. minced garlic
2 tablespoons of bread crumbs (if needed)
Avocado oil for cooking
Sautee the celery, carrot, onion and garlic in some avocado oil in a cast iron pan over medium heat, and season to taste with salt and pepper. Once done, remove from heat and allow the veggies to cool.
In a bowl mix the ground turkey, hot sauce, cooled veggies together if needed add some bread crumbs as a binder.
Form small slider patties. Heat a cast iron skillet with a tablespoon or two of avocado oil. Add the patties to the hot skillet and cook over medium heat. Flip about 8 minutes in. It took me about 20 minutes for the patties to be cook thoroughly.
Although I crowded the pan, so I encourage you to not over crowd the pan because that will affect getting the perfect browning and cooking times. I drizzled another tablespoon of buffalo sauce over the patties in the last 3 minutes of cooking.
Serve with the slaw:
1 package broccoli slaw
½ finely minced red onion
1 diced orange bell pepper (any color will work)
1 ½ tbsp. of fresh dill or 2 tsp of dried dill
1 lemon juiced
1 tsp salt
½ tsp black pepper
¼ tsp onion powder
¼ cup mayo
1 tsp minced garlic
Toss all the ingredients together in a bowl until veggies are coated. Allow to chill while making everything else prior to serving.
These boys thought it smelled pretty good!
