Pomegranate Lime Margarita

Hello, hello! In my neck of the woods (so to speak since there isn’t any woods near where I live) we are knee deep in the midst of winter. Break out the long johns, and start sledding! So my recipe today makes zero sense. Absolutely none. However, if you’re dreaming of warmer weather, and a vacation; make this and pretend you’re on a beach.

Now, I know last week I was talking about nothing but health and making the best food choices. Being an adult and taking responsibility for your own health. And now I’m giving you a cocktail recipe. Therefore you might be saying: “Bitch, please…” and chalking me up to a hypocrite. And maybe I am one, but who isn’t? Furthermore, we’re all still people who even in our best health enjoys a cocktail from time to time. Am I right?

The thing though with treats/cocktails is that even in cleaning eating we get cravings, we want to make something special to celebrate an event or moment, there’s still a desire to have things we enjoyed before but know is not the best choice.

And we CAN have treats/cocktails but we must remember that it is not a daily habit or something to over indulge in when you do indulge (even if it is a daily treat you give yourself, set a limit). Also, if you make them yourself most often when you decide to indulge you get to control the ingredients that you use. You can choose to use the better quality ingredients to make your treats. Toss the pre-mixed garbage full of questionable ingredients. Make it yourself with ingredients you know, and trust and are real ingredients.

This cocktail has real ingredients and I used the finest tequila in my house for it. The pomegranate juice was free of added sugar or preservatives. I squeezed the lime juice from fresh limes, as well.

Now when you go out to eat and order dessert or a cocktail, you don’t have control over every ingredient. And I don’t worry so much about that, because we don’t eat out every day, and 97% of the time I am the one making our food or drinks so I control what I have. That’s what is important: what you do consistently. That is what impacts your health the most.

Happy Cooking!
